Achieving Food Hygiene Rating Level 5 Training Course
Price: Only £17.50 + VAT
The Food Standards Agency’s National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme has run since December 2008 and now covers every area of Wales and Northern Ireland and 99% of England. Your rating is the score on the green and black sticker in the window and on the FSA website, so it shapes how people judge your business before they even walk in.
A business that is broadly compliant with food law and manages its food safety risks earns a rating of three. Manage those risks well and you reach a four or a five. A serious lapse in any one area can pull the whole score down. This course explains how the scheme works, what the scoring criteria are and how inspectors assess them, how to appeal a rating, the Safer Food, Better Business system, E. coli, and the practical steps that help your premises earn the best score possible.

Frequently Asked Questions!
What is the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme?
It is the Food Standards Agency scheme that gives food businesses a rating from 0 to 5 after an inspection. The score is displayed publicly and on the FSA website
How is the rating decided?
The inspector looks at three things: how hygienically food is handled and prepared, the cleanliness and condition of the premises, and how well you manage and record food safety. The course covers each one.
Can I appeal my rating?
Yes. There is a set appeals process, and the course explains how and when to use it.
Will this course get my business a 5?
It prepares you well to aim for the top ratings, but it cannot guarantee a 5. The rating is the inspector’s decision on the day.
How long does it take, and is there a test?
Around 50 minutes of video content, with a short assessment. You need 70% to pass each module and can retake it if you need to.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. You can download and print your certificate as soon as you pass. This certificate shows you have completed this course only. It will not give you a 5 star hygiene rating.
